Mitchell Stein – With the COVID-19 pandemic shutting down production of major news shows and television entertainment, James Corden’s Late Late Show moved its production from CBS Television Studios right into James’ garage since March. Last night’s episode began with James reflecting on the sadness of having to do this show alone for over four months now, and in his excitement, he calls in some extra help to assist with his monologue. Unfortunately for him, that help were the resident Muppet curmudgeons Statler and Waldorf, who end up spending their entire airtime heckling Corden’s monologue virtually.
Later in the episode, Corden called in a little help from his friends when the entire Muppet gang united virtually for a rendition of The Beatles’ A Little Help From My Friends, along with the Late Late crew. From Walter to Chip, to Rizzo and Pepe, the gang is all here! A much-needed dose of Muppet-magic during this difficult time indeed.
Here’s to hoping we see more of the Muppets from the comfort of their homes over the next few weeks leading up to Muppets Now.
