Jarrod Fairclough – In news that should have been reported on two weeks ago (sorry, gang!) The Hollywood Reporter celebrated Sesame Street‘s 50th anniversary with a bunch of fantastic articles and videos!
The first, and biggest, article is a wonderful look behind the scenes at Sesame Street now and over the last 50 years. There’s some great snippets by key cast and crew, and there’s a heap of fantastic behind the scenes photos.
A lot of people wonder how Sesame got it’s funding back in the PBS days, and what the financial reasons were behind the move to HBO. Well, wonder no more because the next article explains the entire situation.
Turns out Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is a giant fan of Sesame Street (hehe, get it?), so he penned a wonderful piece on his love for the show and for Big Bird in particular.
A lot of Muppets aren’t on Sesame Street anymore. Here’s just a couple of them.
Remember the long-rumored Sesame Street movie? Apparently it could be shooting as early as this summer, and THR spoke with the films writer and director Jonathan Krisel to ask about the progress and the possible plot!
The final article features a small interview with our pal and yours Matt Vogel, about his tenure as Big Bird and how he came to be a part of the Muppets.
Finally, there’s 2 hilarious new videos that went alongside these 6 articles. The first is a tour of Sesame Street with the one and only Cookie Monster!
And last but not least, Big Bird, Abby, Elmo and Ernie play ‘How Well Do You Know Your Friend?’ Turns out Ernie’s not great with ages…
