Jarrod Fairclough – The Sesame Street library is about to get even bigger, with the announcement last week of two new books!
The first is entitled ‘Love The Fur You’re In – Monster Wit And Wisdom’, and will contain artwork and selected passages from 50 years of Sesame Street books. There’s a tonne of great choices to select from, so this book promises to be a real treat. The official synopsis reads as follows:
Brought to you by Sesame Street–a wise and funny guide to life featuring classic illustrations from five decades of Sesame Street children’s books. For fans of all ages, especially those who grew up with Sesame Street, this hardcover book contains advice for being true to one’s self and living life with a Sesame Street perspective–finding that sunny day! Written with great heart and great humor, it’s also a look back across 50 years of Sesame Street book art that illustrates advice like: “Get out in the rain and dance!” “Don’t hide your light under a trashcan lid.” “Be someone’s Super Grover!”–and much, much more. The rich, full-color art showcases classic characters such as Big Bird, Grover, Oscar, Ernie, Bert, Elmo, Cookie Monster, the Count–and Prairie Dawn, Betty Lou, Biff and Sully, Sherlock Hemlock, Guy Smiley, and others. The illustrations display a wide range of nostalgic art styles that took Sesame Street beyond television–and into the hands of generations of young book lovers. This wise and witty little book launches the 50th anniversary celebration of Sesame Street–a truly iconic part of our culture and an indelible part of growing up for countless children.
You can pre-order the book here on Amazon for just $12.99, and will available from April 23rd 2019.
The second book announced last weeks comes after the success of Cookie Monster’s recent ‘The Joy of Cookies’. Oscar the Grouch has written a new book called ‘The Pursuit of Grouchiness’, all about – well, how to be grouchy! There’s likely to be comments about how being sad makes him happy, and being happy makes him mad, and he’s mad because it sounds sappy to be happy when you’re sad. The official description comes from MacMillan Publishers:
In The Pursuit of Grouchiness, Oscar the Grouch teaches you how to lose friends and grouchily influence people.
There’s no greater expert on celebrating a crummy day than Oscar the Grouch. After complaining about cheerfulness for decades from his trash can on Sesame Street, Oscar now shares his secrets for making sure you’re as curmudgeonly as possible, all day, every day.
It’s the perfect gift for your grouchy friends, your annoyingly upbeat friends who could stand to be a little grouchier, and even just yourself—because a bad day can always get worse.
Now get lost! And have a rotten day!
‘The Pursuit of Grouchiness’ can be pre-ordered here for $15.99, and will be out April 15th 2019.
