Jarrod Fairclough – As reported last week, Sesame Workshop filed a lawsuit against STX Entertainment, the distributing team for the new Henson Company film The Happytime Murders. Sesame took umbridge with the films tagline ‘No Sesame. All Street’, claiming STX was benefiting off of 50 years of Sesame Street‘s good name, and that some viewers would be confused.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald;
US District Judge Vernon Broderick (ruled) in a New York courtroom on Wednesday that distributor STX Productions can continue to use the tagline. Judge Vernon said Sesame Workshop had not demonstrated that moviegoers were confused or that sponsors or parents were complaining.
